In order to know a foreign language thoroughly (完全地)，four things are necessary.
First，we must understand the language when we hear it spoken. Secondly，we must be
able to speak it ourselves，correctly with confidence and without hesitation (犹
豫).Thirdly，we must read in the language as much as possible. Besides，we must be
able to write it. We must be able to make sentences that are correct in grammar.
There is no short way to succeed in language learning. A good memory (记忆) is
a great help，but it is not enough only to memorize the rules from a grammar book.
It is no much use learning by heart long lists of words and their meanings，studying
the dictionary，and so on. We must learn by using the language. If we are pleased
with a few rules we have memorized，we are not really learning the language. We
must “learn through use”. Practice is important. We must practise speaking and
writing the language whenever we can.

B. hearing，speaking，reading and

Let us begin by saying what causes our dreams. Our dreams do not come from another world. They are not messages from some outside source. They are not a look into the future, either. All our dreams have something to do with our feelings, fears, longings, wishes, needs and memories. If a person is hungry, or tired, or cold, his dreams may include a feeling of this kind. If the covers on your body, such as a quilt or a blanket, have slipped off your bed, you may dream that you are sleeping on ice or in snow. The material for the dream you will have tonight is likely to come from the experience you have today.
So the subject of your dream usually comes from something that has effect on you while you are sleeping（feeling of cold, a noise, a discomfort, etc. ）and it may also use your past experiences and the wishes and the interests you have now. This is why children are likely to dream of fairies, older children of school examinations, hungry people of food, homesick soldiers of their families and prisoners of freedom.
To show you how this is happening while you are asleep and how your needs and wishes can all be joined together in a dream, here is the story of the experiment. A man was asleep and the back of his hand was rubbed with a piece of absorbed cotton. He would dream he was in hospital and his charming girlfriend was visiting him, sitting on the bed and feeling his hand gently!
There are some scientists who have made a special study of why we dream, what we dream and what those dreams mean. Their explanation of dreams, though a bit reasonable, is not accepted by everyone but it offers an interesting approach to the problem. They believe that dreams are mostly expressions of wishes that did not come true. In other words dreaming is a way of having your wishes carried out. 58. From the passage we know that our dreams_____. A． are imagination of our daily life B． are man’s curious look into the future
C． have nothing to do with our feelings D． are to some degree connected with our feelings 59. In your dream when you feel like eating something it indicates（暗示）that______. A． you are in a state of being cold B． you are in a state of being tired C． you are in a state of hunger D． you should have had your dinner that day 60. Older children often dream of examinations probably because_______. A． they are interested in exams B． they are often worried about their studies C． they hope for better life D． they show much interest in their studies 61. Some scientists’ explanation of dreams _______. A． is not widely accepted though a bit reasonable B． gives an exact description of our life C． provides us with information of dreams D． is of no use for us
D Jenny was a bright-eyed, pretty five-year-old girl. One day when she and her mother were checking out at the grocery store, Jenny saw a plastic(塑料) pearl (珍珠) necklace priced at $2.50. How she wanted that pearl necklace! When she asked her mother if she would buy it for her, her mother said. "Well, it is a pretty necklace, but it costs an awful lot of money. I'll tell you what. I'll buy you the necklace, and when we get home we can make up a list of housework that you can do to pay for the necklace. And don't forget that for your birthday, Grandma just might give you a whole dollar bill, too. Okay?" Jenny agreed, and her mother bought the necklace for her. Jenny worked on her housework very hard every day, and sure enough, her grandma gave her a brand-new dollar bill for her birthday. Soon Jenny had paid off the pearls. How Jenny loved those pearls. She wore them everywhere to kindergarten, bed and when
she went out with her mother to run errands (跑腿). The only time she didn't wear them was in the shower. Her mother had told her that they would turn her neck green!
Jenny had a very loving Daddy. When Jenny went to bed, he would get up from his favorite chair every night and read Jenny her favorite story.
One night when he finished the story, he said, "Jenny, do you love me?" "Oh yes, Daddy, you know I love you," the little girl said. "Well, then, give me your pearls." "Oh! Daddy, not my pearls!" Jenny said. "But you can have Rosy, my favorite doll. Remember her? You gave her to me last year for my birthday. And you can have her tea party outfit, too. Okay?" "Oh no, darling, that's okay." Her father brushed her cheek with a kiss. "Good night, little one." A week later, her father once again asked Jenny after her story, "Do you love me?" "Oh yes, Daddy, you know I love you." "Well, then, give me your pearls." "Oh, Daddy, not my pearls! But you can have Ribbons, my toy horse. Do you remember her? She's my favorite. Her hair is so soft, and you can play with it and everything. You can have Ribbons if you want her, Daddy," the little girl said to her father. "No, that's okay," her father said and brushed her cheek again with a kiss. "God bless you, little one. Sweet dreams." Several days later, when Jenny's father came in to read her a story, Jenny was sitting on her bed and her lip was trembling (颤抖). "Here, Daddy," she said, and held out her hand. She opened it and her beloved pearl necklace was inside. She let it slip into her father's hand. With one hand her father held the plastic pearls and the other he pulled out of his pocket a blue velvet (天鹅绒的) box. Inside of the box were real and beautiful pearls. He had had them all along. He was waiting for Jenny to give up the cheap one so that he could give her the real thing. 62.What did Jenny have to do to get the plastic pearl necklace?____ .

Should students make friends on line? People have different opinions on this. Some students agree. Firstly, the Internet can help them make various friends. Secondly, they can express their feelings and thoughts freely. Besides, chatting on line is also helpful for our language study. However, other students have the opposite view. They think making friends on line is a waste of time, which should be spent more meaningfully on study. In addition, some students get cheated on line. In my opinion, students should place their study, health and safety before other things. As for friendship, we can readily find it in our classmates and other people around us. / From my point of view, making online friends is not a bad thing if we’re careful enough. Anyway, Internet widens our eyes and enriches our knowledge. However, we shouldn’t spend too much time on it and sometimes be careful with the people we
chat with. Only in this way can making online friends be valuable to us.
